Interesting Observations...

So, I have been working for some time now in many lower income neighborhoods, going in and out of little markets, all owned by immigrants. Most of these markets cater to Hispanic customers but there are certainly other demographics that use these little markets, although, I would venture to guess almost zero Caucasians visit these markets!

Anyway, as the weather has warmed up, I have found myself drinking more water. So, naturally I figure I will go into one of these markets through the course of my day and buy a bottle of water. Well what I have noticed is that in many of these markets they don't have bottled water in the cooler?!?! If they do, it is usually one type of bottled water and they are the small bottle. I drink a lot of water, pretty much all I drink, so when I go in, I need a larger bottle because buying the little one is a waste of time and money for me. I find this amazing but what is even more amazing is what you find in these markets.

OK, so of my many observations here are some that really stick out...

All of these markets have multiple coolers, some of them as many as 10 or 15 coolers and they are all FULL of Beer, Wine, Energy Drinks, and Soda and just one row of bottled water and that's it! We wonder why our nation is Fat, Overweight, Overstimulated etc...All of these markets, which I believe are probably the mainstream and similar to all of the markets in most of the larger cities, carry this junk and promote it and advertise for it.

Another thing that all of these markets have that is amazing is Swisher Sweets flavored blunts. If you don't know what that is, it is tobacco! Little favored cigar type tobacco sticks. These markets sell them one at a time or a box and they sell TONS of these things. Again, we wonder why our nation is unhealthy and have all of these health care issues! I would venture a guess, and it is only a guess, that many of the people that live in the neighborhoods I am talking about don't have any health insurance!

Lastly for this post, the other thing I notice that all of these markets have and sell a large amount of is LOTTERY TICKETS! Amazing how the people that can least afford the lottery are the biggest customers! I see people all the time buying scratcher tickets as well as the Lottos and all the various games that include the lottos etc... I think many of these people have retirement plans and it is called the State Lottery!!

OK, that is all. If you have any comments please feel free to leave and add to the conversation!

Do You Love What You Are Doing?

In this tough economic climate, so many people are just happy to have a JOB. I wonder WHY? Do all you want out of life is a JOB? Do you love what you are doing or are you just doing it because you have responsibilities? What would it take to get out of your JOB and start doing what you love?
Could you love your JOB with a few minor changes?

You are much more likely to succeed at something you love! Do you love what you are doing? What do you really love?

Since this is Klatchisms, a place where we can gather and have informal conversations, I would like everyone to answer the questions I have posed here! My hope is that everyone will share something and ultimately, some will leave something and others will take something.

Do you love what you are doing? What is it that you truly love? If you aren't doing what you love, how could you make a change to do more of what you love?

Launch of Klatchisms...

Welcome to the first official post of Klatchisms. What are Klatchisms?

The word Klatch is a German word meaning "gossip." It is also very commonly defined as "a gathering usually characterized by informal conversation."

Hence, Klatchisms is born, my own little twist on the word Klatch, which also happens to be the family name I will from time to time gossip or blog a random musing about the latest news, sports or just some random happenings in my life and the world around it. Feel free to come here and contribute to the gossip or just as the definition states, have an informal conversation!

Thanks for reading, following and contributing!
